E.C.A. Products That Do Not Threaten Health
E.C.A. "products that do not pose a health risk..."
As is known, the Cu-Zn-Pb alloy (a copper-zinc-lead alloy) is used in the manufacturing of faucets and other types of fittings.
When water sits in a fitting, the metal and non-metallic components that come into contact with the water release various toxic substances into the water. Furthermore, all plastic, rubber parts, and oil used cause microorganisms in the water. All of these toxic effects cause severe damage to the nervous system and various diseases, particularly cancer.
The most significant of these is the lead found in the raw materials.
The lead found in the materials, which dissolves over time and passes into water, affects brain development by impairing learning and concentration in children, and causes problems such as hearing loss, slowed growth, and behavioral problems. If pregnant women ingest significant amounts of lead, their unborn babies are affected. Lead causes joint and muscle pain in adults, high blood pressure, infertility problems, memory loss, and even seizures. As E.C.A., we aim to prioritize healthy, comfortable, and economical consumption with the standards we maintain today.
All non-metallic plastic and rubber parts that come into contact with water, as well as the lubricants we use in our products, are sourced as harmless to human health and hold NSF 61-9 (USA), WRAS (UK), and ACS (France) hygiene approvals.
Recently, restrictions on lead have been introduced, particularly in the US and Europe. However, the low lead content reduces the material's machinability.
As E.C.A., we want to make lead-free materials available for production and use in Turkey. A TEYDEB project was conducted through TAREL A.Ş., an Elginkan Group company located in the METU Teknokent, to develop lead-free brass, and a patent has been obtained for the material. The developed raw material is produced by ELSAN A.Ş., an Elginkan Group company.
